A Magical Voyage in the World of Water Puppets
The Nha Trang Water Puppet Show takes place at the Tran Phu Cultural House, featuring colorful wooden puppets, dazzling lights, and traditional music. A large pond serves as the stage, where 400 puppets are controlled by skilled puppeteers hidden behind a large screen. Audience members enjoy 15 different scenes in a 45-minute performance, including frog catching, fishing, children's games, rice planting, sacred dances, and boat races.
The Legend of Le Loi and the Hoan Kiem Lake Myth
The show also recreates a famous local legend in Vietnam about the folk hero Le Loi. The legend states that he was given a magical sword by the Gods to fight foreign invaders in the 15th century. After defeating the invaders, the Golden Turtle God appeared before Le Loi to reclaim the sword while he was crossing a lake in Hanoi. This lake is now known as Hoan Kiem Lake (Lake of the Returned Sword) and is a popular tourist destination in Hanoi.
